Nature School LA Forest School

We are a year-round nature based program exploring L.A.'s beautiful parks and native landscapes. We got inspired by Scandinavian, German and Swiss Forest Schools. Now we got it here in the heart of L.A.

The natural environment not only boosts our immune system, fills the body with oxygen, releases stress but also calms the nervous system and heightens the senses, setting the perfect stage for learning as we discover math, writing, language, art, music, movement, science and meditation in a playful non-traditional way.

Here at Nature School LA we view the child holistically, meaning, we acknowledge his or her social-emotional, cognitive and physical development equally. Through unstructured play they bring their ideas to life and discover themselves and the world around them.

We serve families with children ages 2.5y - 13y and aspires to strengthen their connection with the natural world and deepen their understanding of the relationship among living systems.

I would like to introduce Peter Wohlleben's book "The hidden life of trees" based on decades of experience as a forester https://www.peter-wohlleben.de/english/

His work is revolutionary in the sense of how he, and many others at this point in time perceive trees: as Living-Feeling-Beings. Hugging trees has always been very common in Europe's Kindergartens/Preschools. Nature is whole and so are our we.

Award-winning documentary "Intelligent Trees":

Trees talk, know family ties and care for their young? Is this too fantastic to be true? Scientist Suzanne Simard (The University of British Columbia, Canada) and German forester and author Peter Wohlleben have been investigating and observing the communication between trees over decades. And their findings are most astounding.
